About me

I have worked in many area of the engineering pastics industry. Initially started as polymer chemist in the reactive Nylon (co)polymer systems, and polyurethanes. After DSM and AKZO decided to swop businesses (1992) I have worked on polyester based Engineerig plastics in many different roles from chemist to global business manager and nearly all positions that can be found inbetween. My interest was in the beginning period mainly towards elastomers and the enormous flexibility in performance and application range these products can show by relatively simple recipe changes. In that way the elastomer products are a walhalla for people that like to combine polymer performance  in the application with engineering capabilities. In a later stage I started to work on electronics and innovation management, linking long term technology developments with unmet needs for new materials.  With this role I got in close contact with many OEM design centers, leading the way towards technology. From 2017 I have been actively involved in the use of biotechnology in materials science. The connection to bio-technology gave me very deep insights in whats possible with bio technology (or syn bio) and what its constraints are.  In the end biology give the materials world a change to increase performance with a lower environmental footprint and isn't that what we all want?

All of these rolls I have completed while being based in Asia, the USA or Europe giving me a great understanding of cultural background and the effect on business.  In all regions I have worked as independant contributor and as team leader. In Asia and USA I build teams. References are available on request.
